Viamede Resort Wedding, Chandos Lake — Brittany & Andrew
When Brittany and Andrew asked me to leave Prince Edward County for the weekend for Muskoka (or more specifically, Chandos Lake & Viamede Resort), I truly couldn’t resist. ‘Hatchapalooza’ was the most anticipated weekend over the last 6 years of their life together; where all their favourite people would gather at Andrews families cottage for the best summer festivities. It only made sense that this year they incorporated their wedding into the cottage weekend!
Brittany and Andrews ceremony was sincere and so special. As Brittany’s dad drove her up the cottage road in a baby blue GMC truck, Alaska (their fur baby) stole the show as she strolled down the aisle, in a DIY, handmade eucalyptus collar, with her tail wagging and a smile on her face (literally). Andrew had built an alter that overlooked Chandos Lake, and as all the guests surrounded the couple, casual, content and with a drink in hand, it was easy to tell that these people weren’t just friends; they were chosen family.
The two met at the University of Guelph, but they ‘found love in a hopeless place’ after graduation when they both attended Coachella with mutual friends. A few years later, Andrew proposed under the stars in North Carolina at Brittany’s family home… swoooon! If you know Brittany at all, you know how important her family is to her (especially her sisters). It was a cherry on top that she got to celebrate with them after the proposal.
Something I found special about the ‘Hatch’ wedding is how involved they were with their epic cocktail hour. With how the schedule was set up by their AMAZING planner - Paige Caroline, we were able to minimize formal photos, get the couple involved and social with their guests, and save the romantic portraits for a cotton candy sunset at Viamede resort. The couple wanted to highlight that it’s super important to “have fun and not sweat the small stuff. It’s your day!”
